As we close the chapter on another year at H&M Surveying, we find ourselves both proud of how far we have come and deeply grateful for the people who made it possible. This year was defined by growth, learning, and refinement, but, more importantly, by relationships, trust, and shared commitment.

A Year of Measured Growth

This year, H&M Surveying grew by more than 33 percent, a milestone that reflects not just increased volume, but improved capability. Growth for us is never about expansion for its own sake. It is about becoming better at what we do and more reliable for the clients who trust us with their projects.

One of the year’s most significant highlights was the opening of a new office in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, expanding our geographic reach while maintaining the standards of accuracy, responsiveness, and professionalism our clients expect. Each new location represents an opportunity to serve communities more effectively and to build long-term partnerships grounded in trust.

Investing in Our People and Our Processes

This year also marked meaningful progress in how we operate internally. We launched and expanded structured training programs designed to develop our field crews, CAD professionals, project managers, and emerging leaders. These programs reinforce consistent standards, improve communication, and ensure that every project benefits from shared best practices, regardless of office location.

Alongside training, we made deliberate process improvements through scheduling, data management, quality control, and client communication. These refinements may not always be visible from the outside, but they are essential to delivering work that is accurate, efficient, and dependable. Continuous improvement is not a one-time initiative for us; it is part of our culture.

Thankful for Our Clients

None of this progress would be possible without our clients. We are sincerely thankful for the opportunity to serve developers, homeowners, engineers, attorneys, contractors, and public agencies who place their confidence in our team. Your trust challenges us to uphold the highest standards and motivates us to raise the bar continually.

This year, we extend our sincere thanks to Urban Land Institute – Carolinas, whose leadership and programming continue to provide valuable insight into land development, infrastructure, and regional growth across the Carolinas. Their work fosters collaboration between developers, engineers, planners, and public agencies, benefiting the communities we serve.

We are equally thankful for the South Carolina Society of Professional Land Surveyors and the Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia, whose advocacy, education, and professional standards uphold the integrity of the surveying profession in our licensed states. Their commitment to licensure, ethics, and continuing education directly supports quality outcomes for clients and practitioners alike.

At the national level, the National Society of Professional Surveyors plays a critical role in advancing the profession through policy engagement, technical resources, and leadership development. Their efforts help ensure surveying remains a respected and essential discipline within the broader design and construction industry.

We also value our connection with the Society of American Military Engineers, an organization that bridges the public and private sectors while supporting the engineering mission of national defense and infrastructure resilience. As a veteran-owned firm, this partnership holds special meaning for our team.

Additionally, we appreciate the advocacy and support provided by the National Veteran Small Business Coalition, which works tirelessly to amplify the voice of veteran-owned businesses and expand opportunities within federal and commercial markets.

Finally, we are excited to join our newest professional affiliation, the American Council of Engineering Companies. Participation in ACEC strengthens our collaboration with engineering partners and reinforces our commitment to professional excellence, ethical practice, and industry leadership.

These organizations play a vital role in shaping the future of land surveying, engineering, and development. We are thankful for the opportunity to learn from them, contribute where we can, and remain actively engaged in advancing the profession.

From early mornings in the field to late afternoons refining deliverables, our team consistently demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and pride in their work.
